District St Georges Day Parade
This year's St Georges Day Service was hosted by 2nd Falmouth.
There was a very good turn out from all sections from all the Groups and I thank you all for that.
The Service was conducted by Father Stephen Drakely assisted by the Archdeacon of Cornwall, the venerable Roger Bush and F. Barrington Bennetts.
The Parade, lead by George Bibby, was met by a fierce Dragon, luckily though, St George was at hand to Slay the said Dragon.
During the Service a re-enactment of George Slaying the Dragon took place. This was played out by members of the Beaver, Cub and Scout sections.
Two Cub Scouts sang a duet, and I take my hat off to them, I thought they were excellent.
Such dignitaries as the Mayor of Falmouth and his Consort were in attendance as well as a representative from the local Constabulary.
Clare Thompson, ACC Beavers was in attendace too.
Refreshments were served at the back of the Church Afterwards.
My thanks to Lavinia and all at 2nd Falmouth for making the evening a great success.

Presentation of the Chief Scout's Commendation for Meritorious Conduct.
At the District St George's Day Parade the Archdeacon of Cornwall the venerable Roger Bush, presented Jack with the Chief Scout's Commendation for Meritorious Conduct.
Clare Thompson ACC Beavers read the following citation:
'' Last Summer during the school holidays, a Beaver Scout called Jack was very courageous and helped his Dad following an Accident.
Jack's Dad sustained a serious injury to his hand whilst working in the garden. Whilst there was another adult in the garden next door, who was able to talk to Jack's Dad, Jack realised the situation was serious and subsequently phoned for an ambulance.
He had completed his Beaver Scout 999 Badge just six months before and had been tought to stay calm and talk clearly in the event of needing to call 999.
Jack's quick thinking and subsequent actions helped to get medical attention to his Father quickly. Without this help Jack's Dad's condition would have worsened significantly.''
