Welcome to Pendynas Scout Network, Falmouth!

Pendynas Scout Network is the section for all 18 - 25 year oldswithin the Scout Association, and it is the last chance for members to really do something for themselves. Pendynas Scout Network is flexible, and once you become a member, you are automatically a member of any Scout Network across the UK!

Pendynas Scout Network is designed to fit in around it's members. If you are already involved in Scouting as a Leader or Fellowship member then you can still be an active member of Scout Network. If your time only allows you to particpate once a month, then that's fine. Likewise, if you go away to University, through your Local Network you can get in touch with your nearest Network and carry on Networking!

What can you do? Put simply, you can do (just about) anything you want! Network Scouts are involved in activities such as camping, rock climbing, water sports, International Projects and working in the local community. And that's just a start! There are terrific Awards available to achieve, The Queens Scout Award and The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to name a few.

What if something doesn't take your fancy? Just come up with an idea and slot it in to the programme, it really is that easy! Scout network is going to be big! We're already laying the foundations to supprt a great Network, so if your interested in being part of something worthwhile, exciting and full of laughs... get in touch!

Issue 217 • News from the Windsor Office of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award • 19th  March 2008

Welcome to our regular roundup of news and information relevant to those involved with The Duke of Edinburgh's Award...

Win an iPod in our simple survey

We would like to know what volunteering you are doing right now and the impact it has had on you.

If you just give us a few details about yourself and your experiences you will go in a prize draw for a stunning iPod Nano. This draw will only take place once we have 1,000 amazing stories about your efforts, so tell your friends. By helping us now, you’ll be inspiring other young people in the future.

Come and work with us: Head of Programmes (Windsor)

The Award is currently recruiting for the role of Head of Programmes based within UK Services. If you are interested in finding out anything further about the role then please visit www.theaward.org/jobs.

The closing date for applications is Friday 28 March 2008.

Are you up for a challenge?

Do you like the great outdoors? Are you aged over 18? Did you enjoy the challenge of the Expeditions Section? Are you fit and up for a new physical challenge? Would you like to help others undertake the Award?

Join us for a great 48-hour challenge and relive your Award experience. Starting at Okehampton Barracks on the edge of Dartmoor, you and your team mates will carry your own gear and food and navigate by map and compass across this beautiful National Park. Camping overnight and cooking your own meal, the second day will see you use mountain bikes to find hidden checkpoints and try to make it back to base before the other teams. 29th-31st August 2008. Teams of 4-6 people. Details from events@theaward.org

Award Merchandise Survey

Last year a number of you very kindly completed our Material and Merchandise Survey. We are now in a position to look in more detail at the type of merchandise that you would like to purchase. We would therefore be grateful if you could complete the following questionnaire to help us determine what your merchandise needs are. Your feedback will help us to determine what elements are important to you in the selection of Award merchandise and enable us to meet your needs better.

Calling all young charity heroes...
